U.N. official says biofuels raise food supply risk

HAVANA (Reuters) - The head of the U.N. Environment Program said on Wednesday Cuban leader Fidel Castro and others are justified in raising concern about the potential for ethanol production to threaten food supplies for the poor.
But UNEP director Achim Steiner said the jury is still out on whether risks outweigh the benefits when using food crops to produce ethanol as an alternative fuel.

Biofuels is the least of your worry !!
U.N. and Cuban government officials are worried that the production of ethanol will cause a food shortage. I am sorry did I miss something? I thought in order to have that concern you need not to have a food shortage already? This is what I am talking about - IGNORANCE. Supposedly, the United Nations should know these things.
