The Tugboat Massacre of July 13, 1994

Today marks 13th anniversary of the "13 de Marzo" massacre by the Cuban government. Cuba Archive has a detailed account of what transpired that early morning and a list of all who passed away and survived. Also, there is a brief summary for each person towards the end of the document. During the day today, let's take a moment to remember our brothers and sisters who died trying to achieve what most of us have accomplished. FREEDOM !!

The adults brought out the children on deck to see if this would deter the incessant jet streams and collisions. In desperation, parents held their children up in the air and pleaded for their lives, putting them in front of the powerful reflector lights pointed at them. But, the attackers disregarded their cries and continued to bombard the powerless passengers with the high pressure water. The mighty streams scattered them all over deck, ripped clothing off, and tore children from their parents’ arms. Some were swept into the ocean immediately. The name of a shoe polish used popularly to refer to these boats.

JFK Killed in Costa Rica

That could have been the headlines if security would not have been so tight during President John F. Kennedy's visit in March of 1963 to Costa Rica. According to a declassified CIA report, the intelligence agency had information, although not confirmed, "that 10 men were being trained in Cuba in early February to assassinate President Kennedy". Coincidentally, 10 Costa Ricans arrived in San Jose from Havana via Mexico City and Nicaragua. Wrong place at the the wrong time? I don't think so !! Things that make you go HMMMMM !!!!

UN Human Rights Council EXPOSED !!

Can someone help me understand why does the U.S. keep funding the UN? What good has it done? There is a video that is making the rounds all over the world that exposes the abuses at the UN (Non) Human Rights Council. Of course, Cuba is one of the countries targeted in this video for their constant human rights violations. This video is a must see !!

As you all know from my previous posts about the BUCL campaign, last night The Police performed in Pro Player Stadium. A banner was to be flown during the concert with a message for Sting and his band members. The message was to inform them that "they dance alone in Cuba also". None of this surprises me as we all know about the love affair the MSM has with the Cuban dictator. I don't expect anything less from a CNN "reporter", especially from Larry King.

The following is a transcript from the show honoring Larry King for his 50 years of broadcasting. Leading to the excerpt below, King was asked by Glenn Beck: "Who is the -- who is the one that you say, "I wish I would have talked to," or who is it that`s still is out there that you say "holy grail"?

Earth to Larry !! Has it ever dawned on you that the reason castro has ruled Cuba for so long is because he has no opposition? He is a DICTATOR !! That is what dictators do.

Also, he doesn't go out without bodyguard's? Boy, you get more stupid as the interview progresses. First of all, name me a President of a democratic country who does not travel without his bodyguards? Not one. Don't you think that a dictator would go out to the driveway to pick-up the daily newspaper without his bodyguards? NO !! This murderer goes out with an entourage that rival's any rapper's entourage. If you don't see them, then they are doing their job. Trust me, they are there like a chameleon on a tree branch. You are just another one taken for a fool.

Reporters Without Borders call for help

Reporters Without Borders is concerned about the well being of all imprisoned journalist's in castro's gulag. They are worried especially about Normando Hernández González. He is editor of the Colegio de Periodistas Independientes de Camagüey which is an independent news agency. His wife requested a year ago for the special release of her husband because of his poor health.

Excerpt from the article:

This concern is heightened by the news of the death on 24 June of 47-year-old dissident Manuel Acosta in Cienfuegos provincial prison, in the centre of the country, where he had been held for three days for “pre-criminal dangerousness.” The authorities said he killed himself.

Didn't Target learn the first time?

Deja Vu ?? I think so. It seems like the other day we demanded that Target remove from their shelves the butcher de La Cabaña CD cases . They complied, but they didn't LEARN !! Finally !!

Finally, someone in the press understands and get's it. I could not have said it better. So based on the definition the article gives of human rights, the Cuban government is currently violating 11.3 million and God knows how many throughout the almost half a century of hell and torture.

Speaking of the embargo, that many say it has done nothing positive, it should be mentioned that if it did not imply a problem for the totalitarian dictatorship there would be no campaign against the embargo.

'No human rights under Raul Castro'

ALMOST a year after Raul Castro took over as communist Cuba's interim leader, blanket human rights violations remain the rule, dissidents have said.

The Cuban Committee for Human Rights and National Reconciliation said reported that "the systematic and institutionalized violation of each and every civil, political, economic and even cultural right remains'' since Raul Castro came to power.

United Nations (Non) Human Rights Council

The good ol' United Nations is at it again. Actually, this time it's the the year old Human Rights Council (HRC) branch. It's 47 members voted on June 18 to halt special human rights scrutiny of Belarus and Cuba. In other words, they are off the blacklist. For those that are not aware, Belarus and Cuba are two of the biggest human violators in the world. Can someone tell why we still fund the U.N.?

Funny thing is that the HRC mandate on their offical website includes,

"preventing human rights violations, securing respect for all human rights, promoting international cooperation to protect human rights".

Looks like the HRC just went 0-3 !! Keep up the good work !!

Biofuels is the least of your worry !!

U.N. and Cuban government officials are worried that the production of ethanol will cause a food shortage. I am sorry did I miss something? I thought in order to have that concern you need not to have a food shortage already? This is what I am talking about - IGNORANCE. Supposedly, the United Nations should know these things. U.N. official says biofuels raise food supply risk

But UNEP director Achim Steiner said the jury is still out on whether risks outweigh the benefits when using food crops to produce ethanol as an alternative fuel.

Why?

Sometimes I am asked why do you care so much about Cuba? You were born in the U.S. I say to myself, "Damn, that's an easy answer". I feel that it starts with my whole immediate family being born in Cuba and all that they went through to escape that "hell". Thanks to them I live in a free country. All the stories I have heard throughout the years have really stuck on me and the fact that many of them were lived by my family members. I feel that I have more than a connection with the caribbean's most beautiful island, it my passion. I can't wait for the day to be able to step foot on a FREE Cuba !!

I have had people tell me that I am more Cuban than actual Cubans born on the island. Go figure. Comments like that make me feel very proud of myself. (I am not coincided, LOL !!) Cuba will always be my second home, but my heart is always there. I am proud to tell anyone who asks, "Where are you from", that "I am American by birth but Cuban by blood" (thanks Alberto De La Cruz for that wonderful phrase). Cuba is my passion !! That will never change.
